It’s clear when I walk into the interview suite at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown that Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are all best friends. The guys are casually talking amongst themselves and even after a long Washington DC press day, they eagerly greet us reporters, Nick Frost recognizing me as “DC Film Girl” from the tweet I sent him earlier in the day. I was impressed!
The English trio has been working together since 1999 when they did the British TV show, “Spaced.” They gained American fame with the 2004 film, Shaun of the Dead. The zombie comedy was followed by the 2006 buddy-cop comedy Hot Fuzz, my personal favorite. These films are widely considered as some of the best satirical and funniest parodies of all-time.
Now its come to the third and final installment to the Cornetto trilogy. These films are referred to as the Cornetto trilogy because in each film there is a different Cornetto ice cream flavor. In Shaun of the Dead it was red strawberry, in Hot Fuzz it was blue original and in The World’s End it is mint chocolate chip. A fun name and unique name for a film trilogy if I do say so myself!
I, along with a few other WAFCA members, had the wonderful opportunity to sit down and talk with Hollywood’s friendliest trio about the final film of their Blood & Ice Cream Trilogy.
